Developed together with mountain guides and the Salewa® climbing team, the Ortles GORE-TEX® Pro Pant is our rugged, waterproof and windproof alpine shell pant engineered from 3-layer GORE-TEX® Pro fabric. It is designed for maximized protection and optimum comfort and patterned for full mobility during extreme and extended alpine use, such as winter mountaineering, alpine climbing, ice climbing or ski touring.
From bluebird days and frozen waterfalls, to full white-outs on alpine plateaus and anything in between, we designed these pants to offer best-in-class waterproof protection that you can rely on to keep you dry. The GORE-TEX membrane at the heart of its 3-layer technology has pores smaller than a water droplet, but larger than a sweat molecule. This means that rain and snow can’t get in, but sweat can get out. In addition, the membrane blocks cold wind that could potentially strip away the layer of warm air between your skin and clothing.
The Ortles GORE-TEX® Pro Pant combines all-round alpine performance and harness-compatible, climbing-focused features in an ergonomic, athletic fit. If you are working hard and need to dump heat, the overlapping YKK waterproof side zips cleverly enable both targeted venting or full opening. The two low-profile leg pockets are easy to access and lay flat when not in use. The elasticated mini bib waist offers higher coverage and keeps out snow and chill winds, and retains essential body heat when crouching down. The tailored lower leg and lacehooks ensure a close fit over boots and keep the cuffs secure, minimizing the risk of crampon snags. Reinforced kick patches provide additional protection from cuts and abrasion.
